FELT
FELT is a studio and label founded by Kathryn Walter in 2000. Walter continues to direct the studio through commercial and experimental projects using modern manufactured felts, influenced by her family’s history in the felt industry and inspired by the exhibition she curated about felt for the Textile Museum of Canada in 1999. As artist, designer, director and maker, Walter’s work ranges from art objects and gallery exhibitions to interior installations commissioned by architects and interior designers across North America. In 2019, she was a recipient of the Allied Arts Medal awarded for creative collaboration by the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC).
